The only other series I know that got a chance to remount its pilot story was, interestingly enough, _Doctor Who_ (the original). The first version of "An Unearthly Child" had a lot of issues, from actual production flubs (doors that didn't do the right thing, dialog faffs), to the very harsh tone between William Hartnell's Doctor and Carole Ann Ford's Susan, the Doctor's supposed granddaughter. The remounted pilot was not nearly as overhauled as "Where No Man Has Gone Before" relative to "The Cage"--same actors, same story, much shorter turnaround time--but it still got a second chance rarely granted to shows whose pilots fail.
