It all started with The Trouble with Tribbles.

I watched all the episodes of The Original Star Trek but it was this one that stuck with me and made me want to keep watching. There are plenty others that left a lasting impression on me in my life.

I feel like Star Trek, in one way or another, has been with me my entire life. The tv shows especially. I have not watched every single one and going back to the 90’s for me (over 3 decades now) to recall watching TOS is unlikely and this excites me. Each episode will be like I’m watching for the first time. What I look forward to the most is the opportunity to take a deeper dive into each one, beyond just pure enjoyment. There is much that can be learned from them and I hope to share all that I learn with you along the way.

I am lucky enough to be able to afford Paramount+, which is how I’m able to watch all the series and movies. As long as they remain available to me in this manner there should be no problem with my watching all the episodes. Some day I hope to buy each series outright. As they are still wildly expensive to own, streaming is the way to go.

These are early days still (February 2023) so for now I will attempt to watch one episode per day and find time late in the evenings to write up a review to send the next day. I will do this until there are an abundance of subscribers who tell me “every day is too much.” Otherwise, this is the schedule I hope to stick with. On days where I miss an episode review I will make every attempt to double-up the following day to stay as “on schedule” as I possibly can.

Before I share the format of each review and the order in which I intend to watch all of Star Trek, I want to first mention my rank. As you can see the name of this newsletter is Stardate, but at the top it says “Ensign’s Log.” This will change over time till I reach what I hope will be my final and highest rank possible of Fleet Admiral. However, achieving these will need to be earned. I intend to earn them by watching, reviewing, and completing certain tasks. I have outlined what those are as follows: I may adjust the requirements as needed but so far this seems to work perfectly. I understand I have left out certain ranks (especially between Captain and Admiral) but that is my prerogative.

These series have already been announced, however, they will only be put into production once an already occurring series ends. Currently, Discovery and Picard are both announced as series finales in 2023, therefore, these will likely come in 2024:
